Farming is a Skill in Gleaner Heights.
You can grow and sell plants from seeds bought in the General Store.
Location[]
The Player farm is where your farming will take place; in particular in the Field. It starts off full of weeds, vines, stones, rocks, branches, and stumps. Your first task will be to clear out a section to start in.
Working on your Farm requires use of a couple Tools. Your Hammer, Hoe, Sickle, Axe, and Watering Can. You also need Seeds for crops.
Your Hammer will break out small stones. Your Sickle will clear out the weeds. Your Axe will chop down the branches. Your Hoe will till the soil. Your Seeds will plant in the soil. Your Watering Can waters the plants.
Skill[]
On top of being the overall activity of taking care of your farm, Farming specifically is also a Skill. Whenever you dig, plant seeds, water soil, harvest crops and cut plants, your Skill in Farming will go up. Each level in Farming reduces stamina cost for planting new crops and harvesting them by 5%, and will also increase your Crop value by 4%.

Crops can't be walked through after they grow a certain amount so ensure you plant them so you can reach to water them.
Rain can wash away seedlings so it's imperative to keep an eye on the weather forecast before planting anything. The perk Crop protection can help mitigate that.
Season 2 DLC introduces a sprinkler recipe that you can buy at the General Store at the start of year 2.
